Bupkis ever happens in redwhiteblaine!

It's the 10th anniversary this year...think we'll get a special edition dvd? Especially with For Your Consideration to be released in September...

Hey I am new to this community. I just have to say that Waiting For Guffman is my all time favorite movie. No hyperbole... I have seen in over 40 times. I have also memorized all the dances. :) I must seem like a geek, but I don't care!!!

Hey has anyone seen the deleted scenes on the DVD? I think they are so funny, some of them they should have kept. Espeacially, "blooooood."

Hi! I'm so glad there's a community for this movie. As a small-town Midwesterner who participates in quite a few crappy little community theater productions, this movie is so close to home for me. Hilarious.

Anyone else think this movie is totally underrated? Everyone's always heard of "Best in Show," "A Mighty Wind," and "This Is Spinal Tap," but mention "Waiting for Guffman" and you just get a blank look. Which is too bad, because I think it's the best out of all of them (as much as I like the others).

10:59 pm - Guest Movie Merchandise

I picked up the songbook for "A Mighty Wind" today. It's much more than just the words and music, but also features all those great album covers from the movie, the backstories behind the groups and much more.

What other merchandise from the Guest movies exist?

Of course the "A Mighty Wind" soundtrack. There's a Guffman soundtrack, but it was only a promo. I saw it on e-Bay recently going for $49. Probably ended at higher than that. It contains songs not even in the deleted scenes. Supposedly these scenes have been released on some sort of Director's Cut version of the film. Anyone have this?

What else is there?

1:51 am - My First Post

Waiting For Guffman has to be my favorite movie of all time. I know all the words to it. I love the DVD deleted scenes with songs taken out from the show within the show. Christopher Guest is phenominal as always. I believe this one is the best of the trio of Guffman, Best In Show, and Mighty Wind. I'm a huge community theatre girl and this movie just knocks my socks off. So go Blaine because nothing ever happens on mars!!!

2:38 am - What A Sweet Pie.

Good to see some appreciation for such a great movie. Guffman is by far my favorite, followed by Best in Show and A Mighty Wind in a tie.

My favorite scene from Guffman is one that isn't actually in the final movie. It's the scene where Corky is driving around informing the actors that they've been cast. Just every little word in that scene makes me laugh--especially the scene at the DQ window between Corky and Libby. Great stuff. It's gonna be soooooo much fuuuuuuun!

I think there's a lot of ideas they haven't explored yet. The next one is rumored to also be about music. I do think they should do another music one, as the songs they write are awesome, but maybe it should be the fifth one (I don't count Spinal Tap since it had only three of the actors).

"Waiting for Guffman" is my favorite Christopher Guest movie. And Parker Posey is my favorite actress. So this community is a natural fit for me.

8:58 pm - Nothing to do, boo hoo

No one's posting in this community, but "whatev". I just realized I have the same Wizard of Oz poster that's in Corky's musical memoribilia shop. So my friend Grace and I have ranked all the Christopher Guest films:
1) Waiting For Guffman (duh-doy! It's got to be the funniest of the bunch)
2) Best in Show (so I've seen it way too many times, but it's still really good)
3) This is Spinal Tap (I saw it recently and it's hysterical, just not in the same range as the afore-mentioned movies. Sometimes I kind of forgot it was about an imaginary band.)
4) A Mighty Wind (I thought it was kind of disappointing. It was still amusing, but I think they kind of exhausted the magic.)
